Teen Therapy
Adolescence and early adulthood come with big transitions, be it new expectations, shifting relationships, academic pressure, or questions about identity and direction.
Our providers work with teenagers, young adults, and their families to promote empowerment, resiliency, insight, emotional expression, enhanced communication, and compassion for self and others.
Our Approach
Many of the teens we work with at our practice experience:
eating disorders and body concerns,
anxiety (including OCD)
perfectionism
relationship distress or communication difficulties
challenges with motivation and initiation, and challenges with the transition to college.
We find that teens often appreciate the opportunity to individually explore their emotions, thoughts, and values.
In addition, family involvement is often an important part of therapy for teens - parents are a teen’s strongest ally. Parents and siblings have a profound effect on the emotional well-being of a teen.
Family therapy provides a supportive, structured environment to promote relationship building, understanding and validation, communication, and connection among family members.
