Pregnancy & Postpartum
Mental health disorders that occur during pregnancy and postpartum can be overwhelming and isolating. We work with clients to untangle the emotional, hormonal, and situational factors contributing to distress during pregnancy and the peripartum period.
We have experience treating postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum OCD, birth-related trauma, and general mood and anxiety disorders that emerge during pregnancy or in the months following birth. Our providers are members of Postpartum Support International and hold additional certification in perinatal mental health. We tailor our expertise to the needs of each birthing parent and family.
Our Approach
Common therapeutic topics we visit during pregnancy include:
ambivalence
anxiety
changes in identity, time, career, and partnership roles
planning for labor and delivery, and setting oneself up for a restorative postpartum period.
We help you process, under, and develop strategies to complement your ever-evolving role as a parent and as a person from the start of pregnancy through the postpartum period (which some say is forever.)
As well, our providers understand the losses associated with miscarriage and hold space for grief and healing.
Dads: We have a soft-spot for dads and welcome any new (or old!) father to our practice. Dads face unique challenges and burdens. Entering fatherhood may activate anxiety, unhelpful patterns, communication difficulties, or newfound irritability and sadness. We're here to help.
